Last night, Hugs and Pullups had a sit-down with our new coach, Lindsay Williams.
The group has been looking for a “next step” for a few weeks now, and I think that having an outside eye giving us real-time feedback will be incredibly beneficial to our growth as an ensemble.
Over coffee last night, we got to know a little bit about Lindsay as an improviser, including her history working with some of today’s most recognized names in Chicago comedy. Her style, she says, is rooted in grounded scene work with occasional game elements peppered throughout the piece, which is very similar to the style Hugs and Pullups has already established. Plus, there seemed to be a friendly-yet-professional chemistry between her and the group members, which should lend itself to some super-constructive rehearsals. To say I’m excited is an understatement. 🙂
Oh, did I mention she’s awesome?
If you’re in Chicago with nothing to do tonight, you can catch Hugs and Pullups at The Spot (Broadway & Montrose) at 8pm for just $5. It should be a ton of fun!
